Woah.. An email frm a fren. Felt muz share here! The question & answer abt evolution here were rather similar to wat i asked & got b4 i accepted Christ.. Enjoy reading! ^-^

Hi everyone

A few days ago, I read about Noah's Ark in the Bible and was wondering how it is possible. So I go and do my own research. I have my answer but I chanced upon another topic which I found that it is very convincing. Evolution. We know that we are created by God and not by evolution. So how do we argue our way through that evolution is not a theory to be believed any more?

First: there has been nowhere near enough time for evolution to have taken place
Second: the fossil record and geologic column are capable of being interpreted in a way that makes the earth only about 10,000 years old
Third: evolution contradicts entropy
Fouth: the theory of evolution is untestable and therefore not, strictly speaking, a scientific hypothesis at all. I would elaborate on these points. If you have time to read, carry on reading. :)

Elaborating about the last point: We know that evolution is basically a theory about the origin of life. Could we design a scientific experiment to see whether Napoleon won or lost the Battle of Waterloo? In actual fact, we can't. We can perform simulations but the result of the simulations might even contradict the fact that we know that Napoleon lost. The most that laboratory experiments could ever hope to show is that natural selection or spontaneous generation or some other evolutionary mechanism can work under certain conditions. And all that we would prove is that it could have been the way life evolved. An experiment could never say that this was the way life did evolve. So in other words, science can never make positive statements about historical events of any kind; it can only investigate current processes.
Conclusion: Evolution is really historical speculation.

The third point Entropy is about the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
And it states that systems in the universe always tend to move from the highly complex and organized toward a state that is less complex and more disorganized. And that every time there is motion or light or any other exchange of energy, the amount of usable energy in the universe decreases. So, in other words, the whole universe is gradually running down.

And wat does evolution say? It says that life started by simple, uncomplicated organisms evolving from inorganic matter floating in the primal ocean. Then gradually, through random chance, more and more complex and highly organized forms of life evolved. Entropy says the exact opposite: that random chance will produce less and less order and complexity. There is a contradiction here. Entropy correct or evolution correct?

The lst point ( The point I like most ). It is about mathematics.
Let's illustrate by flipping a coin.
What is the probability of getting 10 tails in a row? It is actually (1/2)^10. This is a very small probability. There is a fairly simple protein called a polypeptid. Harold F. Blum of Princeton University has calculated that the odds against one of these polypeptids being formed purely by chance is one in one hundred trillion trillion! Moreover, we have to figure many multiples of probability to get even the simplest fish and so on. Ok, one may still argue that even in the remotest chance that humans can still be evolved just by chance even with that small probability. But if we calculate the time taken, it will be a different story. The time taken to flip 10 tails in a row takes a very long time. If you don't believe, you can flip for yourself.

So what about the simple protein forming by chance? It takes even longer. So what about a human evolved by chance? Even a longer longer time. So how long would it take? Let's use the time taken to flip a coin one hundred trillion trillion tails in a row. Even if you could flip that coin a hundred times a second, it would still take you 31 billion years to flip your coin the equivalent number of times. And that is for 1 molecule.

For the second point, it is a bit complex as stated from the website. So well, no elaboration on that. But we have 3 points to verify that evolution is not simply a theory to believe in.
