Yes indeed that trials & tribulations can make one stronger. However it is only true when one's able to overcome it! Having no persecutions and leading a sail smooth life doesn’t mean one cannot be strong.
It is God's will and timing to put us into situations that it seems impossible for us to handle except leaning on God's strength and wisdom to let us overcome it. Note here thou: It is still UP TO US on whether are we willing to LEAN ON GOD. How intimate our relationship w God does not depend on Him. It depends on us. Trials & tribulations is a test of our faith when we reach a level of intimacy w Him, that whether are we still willing to lean on Him or not. If we try to depend on our own strength instead, our relationship w God will be strained and before we even realize it, life with or without God seems to make no difference to us. This is leaning on human’s strength & wisdom only. This is what we call "backsliding".
Leaning on God in our daily lives CAN make us strong too. We dun necessary need those trials & tribulations to make us strong! Indeed, that when one's spirit is dry, overcoming something impossible to him by leaning on God makes that spirit believes even more that God REALLY does exist, & this person may go up to another level, loving Him even more, serving Him even more. But what if one fails? What if this person feels God hasn't deliver him from the evil one? What if he cannot convince himself that God actually has greater plans for him in the future?
As I said, it is a test of faith. A test can mean success/ failure in the end. There is risk involved. There will always be disappointments in our lives. But the crucial thing is how we handle these disappointments. Whether are we able to accept these disappointments of the fallen nature, and change our mindset to something that God has something positive instored for us in the future, rather than kept dwelling on how God had disappointed u. God never disappoint. It is the fallen human world, the very same world that had rejected Jesus 2005 years ago! The world that scorned and criticised Jesus when He was dying on the cross for their sake!!
Rather than praying/wanting more trials & tribulations, why not pray that u will have the strength to pray for ur fellow brother/sister who is facing the test, and have the wisdom to minister to him when he needs help? Iron sharpens iron. You will grow too if u ask God to strengthen u, eg to pray/fast to help ur friend. If ALL are facing tests at the same time, then who is gonna be there for them? Jesus can give us love, joy, peace etc. But more importantly, Jesus actually works through people to minister and help those who are in need! That leads me to the next point, which many ppl have often asked. "Why go church? Why cannot juz be a christian who pray & read the bible at home ourself?"
--> Jesus gave His disciples and others who believe in Him the Holy Spirit. We are so lucky compared to the old covenants ppl coz we have the Holy Spirit w us. & the Holy Spirit is here to guide! That is WHY we need to go to church. That is why we need the pastors and leaders in our lives. They are our precious guides that Jesus has put into our lives. Yes it is true that the Holy Spirit is always the same. Pastor's Spirit and my Spirit in me is the same. But what makes me need to respect my leaders is that my pastor's relationship w God is much closer than mine!(in a way, it means being more able to flow better w the same Spirit we have)*also we SHLD esteem all other ppl higher than ourselves* With closer relationships comes greater anointing from God & yes, ministering power & responsibilities! They are there for us to learn from! Same reason as when Jesus came down on earth 2005 years ago was not only to die for our sins, but also setting an EXAMPLE to let us FOLLOW. That is why we need to go to church! A Christian can NEVER be alone! (of coz that doesnt mean we dun have to do quiet times alone w God)
I never believe that going into City Harvest church is a coincidence. I am MEANT to be rooted and grow in there. It will be a year as a Christian in CHC le. I have seen & learnt soooo much in this one year of mine. I’ll tell u. This ONE year is 100 times more exciting than my previous 20 years of excitements added up together!! Indeed as the bible says, it is never mundane & boring to walk with God and the Holy Spirit in truth. In truth, things will show themselves clearer and clearer to us by God. Indeed, there are still tons of things that I am dying to know/wanting to clarify. But I know with the renewing of the mind constantly, I will learn & know more things throughout my walk w Jesus.
Perhaps, some things are not meant for me to know yet. But I will wait. So long I wait, I know God will answer me. Exactly as wat jie had said. It's NOT WAITING IN VAIN. It's WAITING IN FAITH. Even if it means I have to wait till i am up on heaven. Haha nvm.. I will then shoot all my qns to Him when im up there lor! =P
