Ever thought of what Christmas really is? Last yr didnt think much into it. Just thought that it's a festive season which only Christians celebrate. But nooo.. Now all ard the whole more & more ppl are celebrating it.. even if they duno wat is it all abt..

Is Christmas juz abt celebration, eating turkey, cranberries, exchanging gifts, blessing one another, going out countdown, gathering etc? Yes Christmas is alwiz associated with celebration, gifts exchange etc. & it alwiz brings along a white & loving atmosphere with it.. But have you ever thought of why is it so? What's the underlying meaning to Christmas?

I know that Christmas is a day which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, a King.. a Saviour.. a Servant.. & most of all, The Son of God. He came down at the darkest period of the year. (almost everyday gloomy & rainy in the month of Dec. Some chinese ppl have "Dong Ji" & they eat "Tang Yuan". Dong Ji i heard is actually a passing down custom in which it marks a day in the past when it will rain non stop.

Ever thought of why Jesus' birth is not during the hottest period of time, where the sun shines brightly, or when it's during summer/spring time, when flowers are all blossoming beautifully? Dec lets ppl think of these: winter; cold; dark, rainy, snow. But Dec is when exactly Jesus was born. He is a King, Son of God, but He was given birth not in a palace (where a prince shld be in) or anywhere fanciful, or at least, presentable. Where was he born in then? A small, dirty, smelly, stable... Yet, wise men, ppl of high status & wealth, knowing of His birth, went all the way to that small town Bethehelem wanting to see Him so badly, wanting to give the best to this baby boy born in this smelly stable. Dun they mind the stench? Why then?

The purpose of sending Jesus down is not to wait to be served as a King, but to serve others. He came down at the darkest period of the year, of the period where King Herod wanted to kill all babies 2years and below. He came down at the worst time ever! Wasn't He afraid to carry the name of Son of God? After all, He's a human at that time. Of coz He will! But He holdfast the truth, to trust in His Father. He KNEW who He is from the scriptures that He had learnt, He knew He has great authority, He knew His calling, and the purpose of Him coming down to Earth, and ultimately, that after all the sufferrings & cruxification, He'll be heading back home to join His Father. What assurance & confidence!

Coz He knew that the reason He came down is to light up ppl''s lives, that in the darkest periods of time, you know and you know that He's there to be ur comfort, ur strength.. and to illuminate your path once again, to teach you to walk back to the right route again, to pull us to join His Father back once again. Yes there'll be hard times. Jesus faced so many persecutions as well! But these juz strengthened His character more rather than defeating Him away. Imagine without hard times, can one be an overcomer? Without problems, can one be a problem solver? The thing doesn't lie with the problems u face. It lies with that no matter wat, u TRUST that God will see to everything. His plans for us is never to destroy is, not plans of evil, but of good.. of prosperity. & we'll juz get stronger & stronger with each passing problem!

That's what Christmas is all abt. Salvation. The need to recognize we need to know Jesus Christ, & we need God in our lives. =)
